COVID-19 INFORMATION

When the pool opens for public programs, Puyallup HS Pool will have limited, online reservation and prepayment only programming. The facility and program maximum occupancy will be based on government and social distancing restrictions tied to the phases of our county and DOH requirements.

Things to be aware of when visiting the facilities:

  1. 1. Reservation and payment for programs will be done online or over the phone. Payment and reservations will not be taken onsite.

  1. 2. Face coverings are mandatory and must always be worn except for in the pool or in the pre-swimming shower.

  2.   

  1. 3. It is recommended that participants arrive between 5-10 minutes before their scheduled program. However, participants will not be able to enter the facility more than 10 minutes before the reserved program starts.

  1. 4. Once participants enter the facility, they will need to use hand sanitizer.

  2.  

  1. 5. Participants will need to complete COVID-19 questions and have their temperature checked before they enter the locker room. The locker-rooms are one-way travel only. Participants may not enter the locker room until cleared to do so.

  1. 6. Participants need to arrive in swimming attire (clothes may be worn over swimming attire). Participants will need to remove their outer clothing in the locker room, shower, and bring all their belongings onto the pool deck with them. (nothing should be left in the locker room since it’s a one-way entrance to the pool)

  1. 7. When participants exit the water. They will need to use hand sanitizer for their hands.

  1. 8. No showers will be available after exiting the water when your reserved program is finished. Instead, you may put clothes on over your swimsuit while on the pool deck and then leave out the designated door on the pool deck.

  1. 9. Bathrooms will be available in the hallway for program participant use during programs.

  1. 10. Lap Swimming or Water Walking lane reservations are for individual use only. Participants are asked to stay in the middle of the lane. You may share a lane with only one family member, please let pool staff know before you enter the water.

  1. 11. Aerobic classes being held will have a limit of 5 individuals per class.

  2.  

  1. 12. Lap Lane and Aerobic Reservations will be available in 60-minute increments.

  1. 13. Swim Lessons will have instructors primarily teaching from the pool deck. Participants in lower levels (Level 1, Level 2, Preschool Level 1, Preschool Level 2, Preschool Level 3 and Parent & Child) will require an adult helper from their household in the water with them. The upper levels (Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5) will be taught with the instructor out of the water and will not require an adult helper. However, Participants in Level 3 must be able to pass the minimal swim test of walking or swimming 15 yards to be in the pool without assistance to be enrolled in level 3. Each student and if applicable their adult helper will be given a designated space in the water.

  1. 14. Due to facility occupancy limits, only one adult is allowed per child swimming. Spectators will generally not be allowed. Siblings of registered participants and other children who will not be in the water during a given time may not attend as spectators.

  1. 15. Private Swim Lessons are available by calling the pool office. Payment is due at time of registration for all private swim lessons registered for. Instructors will teach from the pool deck. If the participant is not able to complete a minimal swim test an adult helper will need to be in the water with the child. Each private lesson and adult helper if applicable will be given a designated space in the water.

  1. 16. Adult helpers may provide support to multiple participants (family swim lessons) in the same swimming class. Under some circumstances three children may be in a family swim lesson but will need to be approved through the pool manager to do so.

  1. 17. Family Swim participants will need to still practice social distancing while in the water, but will not be confined to a specific area.
