Youth Apprenticeship

Washington State's Youth Apprenticeship program launched in 2016 as a part of Governor Inslee's new Career Connected Learning (CCL) Initiative.  As an early adopter, AJAC developed two registered apprenticeship training programs for high school students, which include 2000 paid hours of on-the-job training (OJT) and 144 hours of related supplemental instruction (RSI) that satisfies high school completion requirements and up to 15 college credits.  

Youth Apprenticeship transforms how the nation's educarion system prepares youg people to enter careers and lauches them into a successful adulthood through mutually beneficial partnerships across schools, industry, and communities.  These partnerships create opportunities for youth apprentices to finish high school, start their postsecondary education at little-to-no cost, complete paid work experience alongside a mentor, and start along a path that broadens their options for the future.  

• Minimum Qualifications:
• -be 16 years of age
• -A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0
• -Recommended by a teacher from a school AJAC has partnered with
• -Completed and passed Algebra Level 1
• -Must have transportation to and from work site
